For many winter sports we have less than 100 days to get ready. While many are thinking about vacations by the beach or other places, coaches are getting their ideas in place for the upcoming season.
Here are 10 questions coaches are asking themselves;
Assessing Current Team: How well did my current players perform last season, and what specific areas should each one focus on improving this summer?
Incoming Players: What are the skillsets and how do I bring the new players into the team
Team Tactics: What strategic adjustments might we need to make based on our performance last season and the capabilities of our current squad?
Player Development: What specific training programs or summer basketball camps should I recommend to my players to help them enhance their skills?
Physical Conditioning: How can I ensure my players maintain their physical fitness over the summer and arrive in peak condition at the start of the season?
Building Chemistry: What team bonding activities or leadership training can I implement to foster a strong, cohesive team environment?
Issues: What issues can I expect to follow me into the upcoming season; fundraising, personality conflicts, tournament selections, etc.
Equipment and Facilities: Are there any updates or improvements needed for our basketball facilities, equipment, or uniforms before the season starts?
Community Engagement: What opportunities might there be for my team to engage with the local community, such as charity events or public scrimmages, to build support before the season?
Setting Goals: Based on our potential for the upcoming season, what realistic goals should we set for ourselves as a team, and how will we measure our progress towards these goals?
If your coaches are asking themselves these questions what questions should parents be asking of their student athletes?
