One might think we mistyped or are misquoting ebb and flow. While these concepts are difficult and complex enough alone we are speaking of an entirely, and just as complex, of a situation. The ‘edge’ is the point in which an athlete does not recognize the subconscious, the flow is playing to this space. In athletic pursuits we speak of muscle memory, repetitive tasks, pushing boundaries, etc. Edge and Flow, simply speaking, are none of those but rather a complex mixture of historical training regimes coupled with modern and forward leaning concepts. If we know there are athletes that are already in this space, in fact, we may have been one of those athletes who have experienced this elevated state, then we should be able to shorten the timespan to achieving these states. At a minimum we should be able to design our regimes (individual practice, team practice, competitive situations) to accelerate Edge and Flow so that it becomes more commonplace.
