As is usual we had to vacate the school gym as the floors are getting cleaned and waxed. It is that time of year that reminds us that start of school is just around the corner. At Edge Flow Analytics we are starting to shift our workouts to more intense running and speed conditioning, reducing weights and focussing on shooting.
From the athletes we have interacted with we are noticing some subtle changes. Here are a few things we have noticed:
An increase in the desire to do individual workouts. This is great as the time for individual improvement is now and team dynamics will be just around the corner
Increase in the number of athletes working out outside. We especially like this one. Despite the fact that they might not shoot as well outside on double rims, chain mesh or bent hoops the athletes are taking a ‘can-do’ attitude. We had a conversation with one athlete a few weeks ago. They were lamenting that they were tired after work and did not want to work out but they did not want anyone to get ahead of them in their workout schedule. This type of internal desire and competitiveness is what positively contributes to off season improvements
Level of compete has increased in scrimmages to a point where we can notice better footwork. In our opinion you can practice basketball drills all day long but if your footwork is off your results are going to be lower.
