Transformation 2026 — Week 3: Speed Under Fatigue
Anyone can knock down a shot fresh, first rep of the morning, legs full. Games are not played there. Games are decided on the third possession in a row, legs heavy, lungs working, a defender in your chest. This week we train the player who performs there.
Week 3 is also the week the tired legs arrive. That is not a warning to back off — it is the whole point. We push into the fatigue and hold our standard through it.
The running
Shuttle ladder (17s / baseline touches): 5 rounds, tight rest. Sideline to sideline, count your touches against the clock. This is the change-of-direction cost that straight-line running never charges you.
6 x 400m @ ~1:30, 75 seconds rest. Threshold work. This is the pace that raises the ceiling on everything faster. Adjust the target to your own mile progress, but hold the rest tight.
The court
Here is the week’s real work: shoot and finish immediately after conditioning. Run a hard shuttle, then step straight into your shooting reps. Make them count while your heart rate is high and your legs are gone. Log how your percentage holds — that number tells you more about your fall than any fresh-legged workout ever will.
Recovery
Protect the off day this week. Week 3 is where accumulated fatigue is real, and intensity only works if it is followed by enough recovery to go hard again. Sleep, eat, hydrate. The hard days do nothing if the easy days do not let them land.
The week
Mon — Shuttle ladder, 5 rounds, tight rest
Tue — Light movement + shooting (fresh, technical)
Wed — 6 x 400m @ ~1:30 (75s rest)
Thu — Off. Actually off.
Fri — Conditioning + shoot-while-tired series
Weekend — one off day, one easy day
The standard
Fatigue is the test. The players who transform are the ones who kept their form, their footwork, and their shooting stroke intact when everything told them to get sloppy. Pass the test this week.
